"10U is a fun age to play and coach - as the kids are starting to outgrow the 46/60 field making the routine defensive plays are all that more important," said Coach Chris Bates.

"The team moved to 12-0 during their spring season and more importantly we continue to see player development up and down the roster. As the kids are moving into what I consider Phase 2 of their Youth baseball days (10U to 12U), it is important that we focus on the fundamentals so that becomes a backbone of their abilities and we strive to increase their Baseball IQ."

"On this team and our league, we are focusing on player accountability - especially as the kids get older," Bates added. "The players should carry their baseball bag to and from the parking lot, the players should know what their job as a hitter is when the team has a runner on 2nd and no outs, the player should know as a base runner when to advance in a certain scenario. Regardless of where they are today, we are working to get them to be the best they can going forward. It is a fun process to watch." is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper. What Are The Warning Signs of Suicide

The recent passings of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain remind us to take mental illness seriously.

Many of us feel uncomfortable to ask when someone in distress is suicidal for fear we are putting this thought in their minds. This is not true. It is a myth that asking about suicide increases the risk of suicide. The most common mental illness is depression. Some people are ...
