"10U is a fun age to play and coach - as the kids are starting to outgrow the 46/60 field making the routine defensive plays are all that more important," said Coach Chris Bates.

"The team moved to 12-0 during their spring season and more importantly we continue to see player development up and down the roster. As the kids are moving into what I consider Phase 2 of their Youth baseball days (10U to 12U), it is important that we focus on the fundamentals so that becomes a backbone of their abilities and we strive to increase their Baseball IQ."

"On this team and our league, we are focusing on player accountability - especially as the kids get older," Bates added. "The players should carry their baseball bag to and from the parking lot, the players should know what their job as a hitter is when the team has a runner on 2nd and no outs, the player should know as a base runner when to advance in a certain scenario. Regardless of where they are today, we are working to get them to be the best they can going forward. It is a fun process to watch." is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
