SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ – Dozens of family members and friends were among those in attendance to show their support on Thursday evening as the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education recognized the 2016-17 Governor’s Educators of the Year at a board meeting at Evergreen Elementary School.

The following educators received the award:

  • Donna Lauricella, first-grade teacher at Brunner Elementary School
  • Colleen Reape-Fay, instructional aide at Brunner Elementary School
  • Caitlin Dziedzic, fourth-grade teacher at Coles Elementary School
  • Barbara Denker, instructional aide at Coles Elementary School
  • Jennifer Dubroski, third-grade teacher at Evergreen Elementary School
  • Terry Keller, media specialist at Evergreen Elementary School
  • Jean Swartz, second-grade teacher at McGinn Elementary School
  • John Lohn, media specialist at McGinn Elementary School
  • Jaclyn Duffy, third-grade teacher at School One Elementary School
  • Rosemary Bianco, instructional aide at School One Elementary School
  • Alex Hofer, social studies teacher at Park Middle School

In addition, the board also recognized the SPFK12 recipients of the 2016 New Jersey Exemplary Elementary Educator Awards:

Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) 13 and Over Swim Team Finishes 6th at State Championship

LANCASTER, PA -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA swim team traveled to Franklin-Marshall College in Lancaster, PA from March 9th to 11th for the NJ YMCA 13 and Over State Championships.  During this 3 day meet, 51 State Qualifiers from FSPY competed against 25 YMCA swim teams from across the state. Nineteen FSPY swimmers scored points by finishing in the top 16.
