SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ  -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS Repertory Theatre will present Broadway's legendary musical Chicago, in the SPFHS auditorium during the weekends of March 6-7 and March 12-14.

Set in the Roaring '20s, Chicago tells the story of two rival vaudevillians vying for the spotlight while biding their time in Cook County Jail. Roxie Hart is on death row for the murder of her faithless lover. Velma Kelly denies her ruthless crimes, but will do whatever it takes to be acquitted and back on stage. The sensationalist lawyer, Billy Flynn, is the ring master at the center of the media circus surrounding the trial.

Chicago celebrates the glorious excesses of the Jazz Age and holds up a mirror to the nation in fun and provocative ways. While the subject matter may not be enjoyable for small children, families with older children need not shy away. You’ll be mesmerized by the music, the satirical tale of the merry murderesses determined to find fame and fortune, and All That Jazz.
