SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The state champion Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Marching Band has selected its drum majors for the 2016-17 school year. The student leaders will be rising seniors Christina Lamagna and Simon Oster and rising junior Briana McGowan.

The drum major is responsible for conducting the band, keeping time, and serving as a liaison between students and faculty. The audition process involved two stages of conducting demonstrations, an interview, and a written application.

Lamagna wants to make the band a meaningful experience for her fellow peers: “Marching band means a lot to me and I’m very excited to be at the forefront, and I hope I can bring my energy to the field this season.”
