SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School junior Chris Bondarowicz has been named the state's top swimmer in the 100 yard breaststroke, according to NJ.com's year-end recap.
"It is a great honor to be included on the list with some of New Jersey's best swimmers and to represent Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School," Bondarowicz, a junior, said. "This state produces so many great swimmers who go on to excel in college and the international level, so it is humbling to be included. I can only hope to get even better next year."
Bondarowicz helped the Raider boys win the Union County championship with a victory in the 100 breast and the 200 IM and played a big part in the team's winning the Sectional title and advancing to the state championship final meet.
"I think it is wonderful that someone who works as hard as Chris does earns such a high honor," said SPFHS swim coach Jess Hulnik upon learning of Bondarowicz's selection.
