SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - On Thursday, students from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School dashed, dove, and dodged in FBLA’s (Future Business Leaders of America) semi-annual dodgeball tournament.

Fifteen teams of eight players each competed in the tournament for the overall prize of small trophies and bragging rights.

Preliminaries were held on Wednesday, where the teams participated in several games. The seeds were awarded based on the records of the teams during these games.

The “Average Joes” achieved the top-seed in the tournament and took home the title by defeating the "Ball Busters”  in the finals.

“It was a very fun event as always,” said Zach Lipshitz, member of the “Ball Busters”. “I love competing and I thought the referees did a great job.”

The event raised a total of one-thousand dollars. All proceeds go towards the “March of Dimes” project, which aids families struggling with supporting their premature babies.

“I found the event to be a huge success. One of the most important parts of the event to me is that the teams enjoy playing,” said Caitlin Flood, an organizer of the event. “We achieved all of our goals.” Flood, along with other members of FBLA, put in a lot of work to make the event as successful as it was.

The next FBLA dodgeball tournament will be held in the spring of 2014.

The Missing Moses
