FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Borough of Fanwood and the Township of Scotch Plains will host holiday celebrations on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019.

Fanwood’s holiday season officially begins when Santa Claus comes to town on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3:00 p.m. on a fire truck. Children will have the opportunity to meet him under the big tent on the lawn in front of the historic train station on North Ave. Guests can enjoy an afternoon of seasonal music, holiday crafts, and refreshments. The event is free. Kids who visit with Santa will get a free photograph with him. The event concludes at approximately 5:00 p.m. when Mayor Colleen Mahr lights the town tree on the train station lawn. This event is sponsored by the Fanwood Recreation Commission with much assistance from the Fanwood Department of Public Works.

The Scotch Plains holiday celebration will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and will feature horse-drawn carriage rides, a petting zoo, hot chocolate and donuts, cookie decorating, face painting and, of course, visits with Santa. Jolly old Saint Nick will arrive at 3:00 p.m. and will go back to the North Pole at 5:00 p.m. after he lights the town tree.* (This event is rain or shine.) The Holiday Celebration is sponsored by the Scotch Plains Business and Professional Association.
