SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- On Monday, May 31, Memorial Day ceremonies in Scotch Plains and Fanwood will pay tribute to American military personnel of all wars who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in service to their country. However, out of an abundance of caution, due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, there will be no parade this year.
Nonetheless, in keeping with the tradition of selecting a Parade Grand Marshal, the Memorial Day Committee will identify “collective” Grand Marshals by recognizing the dedication, commitment and sacrifice of the World War II veterans who live in the community.
The committee invites all World War II veterans who are residents of Scotch Plains and Fanwood to participate in the ceremonies. This invitation is extended to all World War II veterans, regardless of duty station, including stateside and overseas assignments.
World War II veterans who are interested in joining their military comrades in the Memorial Day observances should contact Bob LaCosta at (908) 939-8448 or email@example.com.
