Scotch Plains Fanwood Scholarship Foundation Launches Dollars for Students House-to-House Campaign


SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Fanwood Scholarship Foundation announces the second phase of its Dollars for Students campaign.

On Saturday April 22nd and Sunday April 23rd high school students who have applied to the Foundation for scholarship assistance will knock on doors in their neighborhoods to ask the community for their support in reaching the Foundation’s goal of raising $25,000 to fund scholarships to be given in 2017. Students will also collect donations outside area businesses.

The Scotch Plains Fanwood Scholarship Foundation has provided financial assistance to area youth for the past 50 years, awarding $2,925,477 in scholarship aid to 2,844 students. Last year, with the community’s assistance, the Foundation was able to award scholarships totaling $142,860 in scholarship aid to 95 students, whose applications were reviewed by a broad-based screening committee. In 2017, 150 students have applied for scholarship assistance.

Mary Ball Cappio, President of the Foundation, states “For over 50 years, our community has partnered with the Foundation to financially assist our students, sending them off to college knowing that their community cares and stands with them. We rely on our community to enable us to serve Scotch Plains and Fanwood students.” 

Contributions are fully tax-deductible, and the funds raised will be used to aid high school and college students in achieving their higher education goals. If a resident is not contacted in person or does not find an envelope left by a student, they may send their donation to:
