SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ – Next summer, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Varsity Boys soccer team will travel to Costa Rica to train, compete, and participate in a community service project where they will volunteer at a center for homeless and at-risk children.

Before the trip, the team will be collecting gently used soccer jerseys to donate to the children upon arrival. The team will collect jerseys from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Dec. 5 at QuickChek on Westfield Avenue
  • Dec. 12 at QuickChek on North Avenue
  • Dec. 19 at Fanwood Bagel

In the event that too many jerseys (for traveling) are collected, extras will be donated to Bernice’s Place in Elizabeth, NJ, which is another center for homeless and at-risk children.
