PLAINFIELD, NJ — A letter from Myrna Dyson, the Plainfield school district's nursing supervisor, was sent to parents and guardians of Plainfield High School football players to inform them that a player on South Plainfield's team tested positive for COVID-19; the two teams met on Friday, October 23. Cardinals players must now quarantine for 14 days, and practice may resume on November 6.

According to the schedule online, the Cardinals were scheduled to take on Somerville at home this Saturday, October 31, but the game has been canceled. The game at Scotch Plains-Fanwood, scheduled to be played on November 6, has been postponed.

The district is offering COVID-19 testing for all students — and only students — on Saturday at Plainfield High School in the Stelle Avenue parking lot, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
