PLAINFIELD, NJ — A fire broke out around 11:15 p.m. on Friday night in a house on the 100 block of East 7th Street in Plainfield, according to Breaking News Network alerts.

The fire was heavy at the abandoned house, and in additional BNN alerts, command reported an explosion in the back of the building.  Another source reported there were no injuries.

There was mutual aid from neighboring towns, including Scotch Plains and North Plainfield units.

TAPinto Plainfield reached out to Fire Director Kenneth Childress for more information. He responded that Director of Communications Jazz Clayton-Hunt would provide a statement.
