SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Councilwoman Colleen Gialanella and Fire Chief Jonathan Ellis led ceremony to swear in the fire department's new officers on Tuesday night at the Scotch Plains Township Council meeting.

Rutland Paul, Jr. was sworn in as battalion chief. The department's new captains are Joseph Rodrigues, Dennis Hercel, Dan Biglin, and Michelle Bowman, the first female captain in SPFD history. At the ceremony, she was joined by her two brothers, who are also both firefighters.
