SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- A three-alarm fire destroyed a house on Dogwood Drive in Scotch Plains Sunday afternoon.

Fire trucks from Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Clark, Garwood and other towns responded to the blaze, which could be seen atop the roof, which later partially collapsed. The owners of the house were not home at the time. However, two firefighters were transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center for treatment. The family dog was rescued.

"The family will not be able to move back into the home," according to Scotch Plains Deputy Fire Chief John Lestarchick, who confirmed that the cause of the fire was deemed accidental.
