SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Great American Read is now hitting its stride, both on PBS and at the Scotch Plains Public Library. PBS will air new episodes about The Great American Read (TGAR) every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. through October 23. The Library, which was one of 50 public libraries nationwide to receive a grant from PBS and the American Library Association, has planned several programs including discussions related to each episode and the books that were highlighted therein. 

The first discussion will be held on Friday, Sept. 21​ at 10:00 a.m. following the airing of “Who Am I?” on Sept. 18 at 8 pm on PBS. The second discussion will be held on Thursday, Sept 27 at 7:00 p.m. following the airing of the episode, “Heroes,” on Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m. on PBS. Registration is not required for these discussions. Light refreshments will be served.
