FANWOOD-PLAINFIELD, NJ -- A 67-year-old Scotch Plains man survived an accident that totaled his car at the busy intersection of South Avenue and Terrill Road late Tuesday afternoon.

The driver had difficulty negotiating the turn from Terrill onto South, hit a tree and flipped over, according to Fanwood Police Chief Richard Trigo.

Police, Fire and EMT workers worked to extricate the man from his red Alfa Romeo. He was transported to JFK Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to Chief Trigo. No other injuries were reported.
