SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- In accordance with Gov. Phil Murphy's Executive Order No. 157, all Scotch Plains playgrounds have now reopened. Effective at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020, playgrounds are permitted to be open to the public. 

The Scotch Plains Rec Department reminds residents to:

  • Wear face masks while using parks and fields,
  • Maintain 6 feet social distance from individuals outside your home whenever possible,
  • Use hand sanitizer frequently,
  • Cover your mouth if coughing or sneezing, and
  • Stay home if you are sick or if someone in your household is experiencing coronavirus.

At Ponderosa Park, which is a Union County-run park in town, the playground is open and splash pad water is on!

Restrooms at Scotch Plains parks have not opened yet.
