SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Township welcomed Joe Kostecki, Jr., as its newest police officer on Tuesday, July 24.

A lifelong resident of Scotch Plains, he played PAL football as a youth and continued his athletic career at SPFHS, where he played football, lacrosse and wrestled. Officer Kostecki attended Keane University and graduated in 2016 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He went on to attended the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains, where he won the fitness award and graduated in June.

"Our family is growing and it's an absolute pleasure to see all of these young officers coming in," said Scotch Plains Police Chief Ted Conley. "We look forward to a long career."
