The Scotch Plains Public Library is pleased to announce the release of our new mobile app. “SPPL Mobile” allows anyone with a smartphone or tablet to have access to the library wherever they are. Features include searching the catalog, placing holds on books, checking events, contacting the library, and keeping up with the library’s Facebook page and Twitter feed. The app gives Scotch Plains residents direct access to eLibraryNJ, where they can download free ebooks and audiobooks. It also allows users to scan the ISBN barcode of any book to see if it is available at the library. In the near future, access to the library’s databases will also be available.

With today’s prevalence of smartphones and tablets, developing a mobile app is just one more way that the Scotch Plains Public Library provides services to the community. SPPL Mobile is available for free from the iTunes Store for anyone with an Apple device, or at http://scotlib.boopsie.com for any other device. Anyone wishing to see a demonstration of the mobile app, and to learn about other technology available through the library, may attend the library’s Gadgets & Gizmos technology open house on Tuesday, June 26 from 11am to 1pm and Wednesday, June 27 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.

SPPL Mobile was developed for the Scotch Plains Public Library by Boopsie, Inc. Funding for this Mobile Project Initiative is provided by LibraryLinkNJ, The New Jersey Library Cooperative whose services are funded by the New Jersey State Library, which is responsible for the coordination, promotion, and funding of the New Jersey Library Network.
