SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The Township of Scotch Plains will host its Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Frazee House located at 1451 Raritan Rd.

The Frazee House site includes space for the Community Garden where plots will be available for rental. Clean-up help is needed and along the property and the new walking trail. Take-home planting activities and information sessions are also planned.

The event is hosted through a partnership between the Township of Scotch Plains, the Environmental Commission and the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Community Garden. The first 50 people to register will receive a free Scotch Plains Earth Day shirt.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Community Garden will offer 30 raised beds available for rental this spring. Information will be available for those who wish to rent a raised garden bed. The seasonal fee during the 2016 growing season will be $40.

The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Community Garden will grow vegetables while using organic practices, offering advice and education, and building a sense of community and good stewardship of the land.
