Scotch Plains to Host Live Band Karaoke Night on Weds, Aug. 1

SCOTCH PLAINS. NJ -- The Township of Scotch Plains will hosti Live Band Karaoke Night on Wednesday, August 1, from 6:30  to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Scotch Plains on the Alan Augustine Village Green (430 Park Ave).

Live Band Karaoke Night will feature the band The Golden Boyz of New Brunswick, and participants will get to be the “lead singer” and perform songs from a variety of genres including rock, pop, punk, funk, Motown, metal, and R&B.

"Mashing classic karaoke into a concert with a live band..."  The Golden Boyz of New Brunswick band members have performed internationally as backing musicians for everyone from Leslie Gore to Dee Snider. They perform "Live Band Karaoke" regularly throughout the NJ/NY area.

“This will be another fun, unique event that helps make Scotch Plains downtown a vibrant and dynamic place to visit.,” said Mayor Al Smith. “Live Band Karaoke Night is the perfect event to bring people together, so come to downtown and join me in singing a song or two."

Live Band Karaoke Night is a free, family event that is open to people of all ages. To participate in Live Band Karaoke Night, just simply sign up to sing on August 1. Registrants will be called on stage to join the band and sing your favorite song. A list of songs will be available at the event and all song choices will be family friendly.

“In conjunction with our redevelopment efforts, the Township is excited to bring Live Band Karaoke Night to Scotch Plains,” said Tom Strowe, Project Coordinator for Redevelopment, who will emcee the event. “Choose your song, own the stage, and bring your cheering section for a rockin’ night in downtown. If you’re not a singer, just bring a blanket and a chair and enjoy the show,” added Tom Strowe.
