Scotch Plains Fire Department Announces “Wetdown”

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The Scotch Plains Fire Department (SPFD) has announced it will hold a Wetdown of new Engine 1684 on Saturday, July 23, in the Municipal Lot at 430 Park Avenue in downtown Scotch Plains.

A Wetdown is a ceremonial dedication or celebration of a new fire apparatus in which fire trucks from other local towns come and “wet down” the new vehicle by spraying water from their engines or trucks. It scheduled to be a full-day event, beginning at 12 Noon and ending at 4:00 p.m. A dedication service is slotted at approximately 12:30 p.m. to officially kickoff the festivities.

The entrance cost to the event is $15 per person, and the price will cover food, drink, and a plastic beverage mug. Local band Wolf Creek will provide the entertainment for the entirety of the day. Bounce houses will also be available for children.
