SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Services for Tyler Devaney, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School student who was killed in a car crash in Plainfield early Saturday morning, have been announced.

According to a letter from Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools Superintendent Dr. Margaret Hayes, services will be held at Rossi Funeral Home (1937 Westfield Ave.) in Scotch Plains on Tuesday, Dec. 29 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 10:00 a.m. The burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Keyport, NJ, .

Dr. Hayes sent a letter dated Monday, Dec. 28, to parents and guardians of students in the district to inform them of Devaney's death and to advised that counselors will be available when students and staff return to school on Monday, Jan. 4.

"I am deeply saddened to share with you that Tyler Devaney, a senior at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, died in an automobile accident last Saturday," Dr. Hayes wrote. "Our thoughts and hearts go out to the Devaney family during this difficult time."

Dr. Hayes also provided a links to information on the SPFK12 web site to help children cope with loss and to NASPOnline.org, the website for the National Association of School Psychologists.
