SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Municipal Building closed early on Wednesday, July 10, due to a sewer main break. The building closed immediately and possibly will have a delayed opening tomorrow.
According to local plumber Glenn Natale, something blocked the line that runs out of the building and into the main sewer that is approximately 12 feet below the ground surface. The blockage resulted in back-ups when toilets were used on the main floor and the second floor of the building.
Scotch Plains DPW was on the scene to help dig down to the main sewer line and its connection to the Municipal Building's piping in order to fix the problem.
