FANWOOD, NJ — Shovlin Mattress Factory in Fanwood, owned by Westfield residents Ron and Kara Shovlin, recently donated $2,000 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) to Play for P.I.N.K., an annual local event raising money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“We are constantly reminded of the wonderful community we are part of and the success of Play for P.I.N.K. is a great example. Along with other small businesses, Shovlin Mattress Factory donated $2,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation reflecting a portion of their October proceeds,” said Beth Ellen Hornstein, one of the event’s organizers. “They have been part of this initiative for years and are constantly inspired by their customers who always support and volunteer to good causes too.”
It’s the fourth year that Shovlin Mattress Factory has donated to the event.
“Working with Beth Hornstein from Play for P.I.N.K. has been a pleasure and tradition we look forward to each year as October comes around,” the Ron and Kara Shovlin wrote to TAPinto Westfield. “We hope that we can continue the conversation around breast cancer awareness and hopefully move closer to a cure each year. Unfortunately this is a cause that has likely affected everyone in some way so it is important to support our community in any way possible.”
