Softball: Cranford Ends Scotch Plains-Fanwood's Run in Union County Tourney, 11-1

CRANFORD, NJ -- Cranford pitcher Brenna Dolan yielded just three hits over five-innings as the Cougars cruised to an 11-1 victory over 13th seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood in the Union County tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday. 

Jillian Skalski went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the fifth seeded Cougars in the quarterfinals of the Union County Tournament in Cranford. Jayna Mallon went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The game was reasonably close, 2-1, until the fourth inning when Cranford put nine runs on the scoreboard.

Julia DiGiacomo went 2-for-3 with two singles for Scotch Plains-Fanwood. Zoe Cardenas had a hit and scored the game's only run.

Cranford advances and will take on No.1 seeded Gov. Livingston in the semifinals on Saturday.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
