SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J. --The Union Catholic softball team concluded its season by celebrating Senior Day with 9-7 victory over Summit on Tuesday.

Union Catholic, which finished the season 10-13 overall and 7-3 in the Mountain Division, trailed 6-5 in the fifth inning when the Vikings scored three runs with two outs to take an 8-6 lead.
In the fifth for UC, Isabella Fuentes, who had three singles, two runs batted in, and two runs scored in the game, scored on a wild pitch, Scotch Plains native Olivia Welham singled in a run, and Justina Benvenuto scored on an error.

Gabriella Velona had three hits for UC, Welham singled twice and scored a run, Kaitlyn Dohn singled and scored twice, and Sarah Ohnmeiss singled and drove in two runs for the Vikings.

Benvenuto pitched a strong game on the mound for UC to earn the win. She allowed just four hits and struck out seven in the complete game victory
