PLAINFIELD, NJ -- The exciting Solid Brass Ensemble opens Crescent Concerts’ 35th Season at the Crescent Ave. Presbyterian Church in Plainfield on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 3:00 pm.
Founded in 1982, Solid Brass is recognized by audiences and critics alike as one of the premier brass groups in the country. The eleven members of the ensemble are some of the New York area’s finest musicians who have performed at Lincoln Center with the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera orchestras, numerous Broadway shows and appearances in the metropolitan area. A recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Solid Brass has performed in Mexico and Canada. The group is returning for this encore performance after wowing the Crescent audiences in the past with its brilliant arrangements and repertoire.
The goal and title of their upcoming performance is to present “Music to bring you to your feet! [through] The art of the march and dance.” From medieval ceremonial music to John Philip Sousa, from Strauss and Wagner to the Beach Boys and The Wrecking Crew, this program has something for everyone and for every age (including Big Band Memories).
