South Avenue Closed off in Downtown Westfield Due to Bomb Threat

WESTFIELD, NJ - The Union County Police Bomb Squad closed off a portion of South Avenue in downtown Westfield late Friday afternoon in response to a bomb threat.

According to reports from Breaking News Network (BNN), a box was found in the area with a "TNT" label on it. The traffic circle has been closed off and the area between the circle and Summit Avenue across the street from the train station is impassible.

Rush hour traffic through the town has been snarled, and drivers are advised to plan an alternate route while the investigation is ongoing.
