SPF PAL Starts Off on Right Foot(ball)

SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood PAL football teams chalked up a 3-1-1 record during the opening day of the 2014 New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League season last Sunday.
 
In Chatham, the SPF Raiders won two games, tied once and lost once, while one of the Raider teams travelled to Brooklyn and claimed a victory.
 
 
Against Chatham, the A team (8th grade) won, 18-8, the B team (7th grade) drew in a tie, 6-6, the C team (6th grade) fell, 6-0, and the D White team (5th grade), won, 21-13, while the D Blue team (5th grade) scored a 19-7 triumph over Richmond Boro at Poly Prep in Brooklyn. The E team (4th grade) had a bye.
 
This Sunday, the A, B, C and D White Raiders will make the short trip over the border and clash with rival Westfield at Gary Kehler Stadium. Also playing in Westfield will be the E team, which will play Springfield. Westfield does not sponsor a team in the 4th-grade division. Meanwhile, the D Blue team will meet Millburn in Berkeley Heights.
