SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - July 17 was the second of five Thursday nights where Scotch Plains offers free music, foods and drinks on the Village Green. The event began with kids act Suzi Shelton at 6:30 p.m. and followed with The After Party band performing music from the '80s, '90s and today.
For over 30 years, the concerts have been going on and this year it has been out of Scotch Plains' budget without sponsors. The Cultural Arts Committee has raised money with Mayor Kevin Glover's help and support to have a summer show this year as well.
"For a few hours, nobody's sitting in front of the TV or the computer. It's just families, friends and neighbors that come together and enjoy a great summer night. Young and old can sing along with the band and have fun," said Steve Goldberg of Family Investors in Scotch Plains.
The Alan Augustine Village Green is located next to the Municipal Building at 430 Park Ave.
