SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic girls tennis team continued its strong surge with a very impressive 5-0 victory over Dayton on Thursday at Kramer Manor Park.

It was the third victory in the last four matches for the Vikings, who raised their record to 4-4 on the season.

UC dominated the singles matches as Sadie Abood, Maddy Abood, and Annie Hartnett all won in straight sets.

In doubles play, Juliana Rama and Madison Truesdale won at second doubles, 6-1, 6-4, and Amelia Casale and Cara Leegan came up with a thrilling comeback victory at first doubles.

Casale and Leegan lost the first set 6-3, but evened things up by winning the second set, 7-6 (9-7 in the tiebreaker). In the decisive third set, Casale and Leegan had their backs against the wall as they trailed 7-4 in the tiebreaker. But they came storming back to reel off six straight points to clinch the victory.
