SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Historic Peace Conference of Sept. 11, 1776, which occured on Staten Island just months after the Colonies formally declared Indepence from the Crown, will be the featured topic at the Historical Society of Scotch Plains & Fanwood's meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24,

Central NJ author and historian Donald J. Peck will be the featured speaker at the meeting. He will educate us on the events leading up to the meeting, the meeting itself, and the after-effects of this peace conference.

Unfortunately the Peace Conference of Sept. 11, 1776, was brief as British Admiral Lord Richard Howe had limited authority and was inadequate to deal with this development.

The meeting is free and open to everyone.  It takes place on Tuesday September 24th beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Shady Rest Scotch Hills Country Club at 820 Jerusalem Rd (and corner of Plainfield Ave) in Scotch Plains.
