WESTFIELD, NJ —  An estimated 35,000 people, possibly more, attended Westfield’s Spring Fling street fair Sunday, sponsored by the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce, according to GWACC Executive Director Gene Jannotti.

“This is the biggest crowd we’ve ever had,” said Jannotti. “A fun day for everyone. All of the families are out.”

With temperatures reaching the low eighties that afternoon, organizers agreed that the weather was on their side.

“We’re very happy with the weather,” said GWACC Chairman and Scotch Plains resident Christopher Devine. “Everyone looks like they’re enjoying themselves. I see a lot of smiles.”

“We are so glad that the weather is so beautiful this year,” said Kara Shovlin, who lounged in the shade on one of Shovlin Mattress Factory’s made-in-Fanwood mattresses. “So many people have come out. It’s been great for our business.”

The crowds enjoyed live entertainment by several bands, a pie-eating contest sponsored by Bovella’s, children’s rides and games, shopping and lots and lots of food. In addition to the dozens of food vendors on the scene, many restaurants offered outdoor seating.

Sinai or Sanctuary?

And in the beginning, G‑d was homeless, and so G‑d asked His people to set Him up with some digs. Where does it say that? Well, nowhere, actually. But it does say that G‑d instructed Moses to tell the people, “They shall make for Me a Sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.”

Now the question is, was G‑d really homeless? ...
