TOMS RIVER, NJ --The Union Catholic girls track and field team won its fourth straight title and the boys placed second at the NJSIAA South Jersey, Non-Public A Championships on May 22 at Donovan Catholic High School in Toms River. 

Khamil Evans and Jerika Lufrano each won two individual races to help spark the Union Catholic girls, the No. 1 ranked team in New Jersey, to a 185-92 victory over runner-up Paul VI of Haddonfield.

Evans, a junior, led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 with a winning time of 25.36, and won the 400 in 55.98, just off her NJ #4 time of 55.87.

Lufrano, also a junior, ran 5:09.04 to win the 1,600 and 11:03.68 to capture the 3,200. UC also picked up wins from Leena Morant in the 800 (2:14.04), Amaya Chadwick, who led a 1-2-3 finish for the Vikings in the 100 hurdles with a NJ #3 time of 14.46, Sydney Tucker in the 100 (12.39) and its 4x100 team (48.88). The 4x100 team consisted of Kira Alexander, Tucker, Evans and Felicia Quainoo.

In the boys competition, Conor Reilly and Krishna White each came away with titles to hlp lead the Union Catholic boys track and field team to a runner-up finish to Christian Brothers Academy, 138-117.

Reilly, a sophomore, won the pole vault by clearing 13-0 and was fourth in the triple jump (41-2). White, a senior, finished first in the triple jump (44-9 1.2) and was second in both the long jump (20-11 1/2) and the high jump (6-0).  

The Vikings will defend their title at the State Non-Public A Championships on June 1 and 2nd at Franklin High School.
