SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Fanwood and Scotch Plains police have issued a traffic advisory in advance of the planned Trump Truck Parade on Saturday, Oct. 24. The convoy is scheduled to pass through Scotch Plains, Fanwood, and several other towns in Union County.

The parade route will enter Scotch Plains from Clark, go along Lamberts Mill Road, turn left on Raritan Road and later turn right and head north along Martine Ave. It is expected to pass through downtown Fanwood at approximately 11:00 a.m. and continue into downtown Scotch Plains along Park Ave.

"If you are driving, avoid Martine Ave. around 11:00 a.m., plan alternate routes and expect delays," advises Lt. Marc Gottlick of the Fanwood police.

Authorities are bracing for the possibility of a large number of vehicles. According to Lt. Gottlick, between 200-300 vehicles participated in a Trump Truck Rally last week in Clark, and this weekend's rally could involve 700 or more trucks.

Scotch Plains police chief Ted Conley said that local police departments of the towns along the parade route are collaborating their efforts.

"They have to keep within the speed limits. We will help speed it up by putting officers at intersections," Conley said. "We will do our best to get them through town as quickly and as safely as possible."
