SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ --  Sisters Ann Sullivan, SSJ, Alice Yohe, SSJ, and Elaine McAteer, SSJ, who all have a very strong presence at Union Catholic and are an integral part of the UC Community, celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph on Thursday.

All three have served the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill (Pa.) for most of their lives.

In 2018, Sister Ann, SSJ, and Sister Alice, SSJ, celebrated 65 years of service, and Sister Elaine, SSJ, celebrated her 60th year of service. So the three Sisters, who have devoted most of their lives to their religion, have now combined for more than 190 years of service.

Sister Ann, who celebrated 25 years of service at Union Catholic in 2018, works with the Counseling Department at UC. Sister Elaine has volunteered in the Counseling Department at UC for the last 12 years, and Sister Alice helps set up for events at UC, and if often selling her “Morning Star Chocolates,” a cottage industry that sends its proceeds into the retirement fund of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill

Union Catholic Principal Sister Percylee Hart, RSM, said Sister Ann, Sister Alice, and Sister Elaine are part of the Union Catholic fabric, and she’s grateful for everything they’ve done for the school and the community.

“I’m very grateful that they continue to be in our midst here, bringing their gifts and talents and dedication to religion and service to our school,’’ said Sister Percylee. “They have all made their presence felt here.’’
