SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- When Congrui Lin came to Union Catholic from China as a freshman in 2015, one of his biggest goals was to get involved in as many activities as possible and to be as academically successful as possible.
Lin has certainly succeeded in those endeavors as the junior has flourished inside and outside the classroom at Union Catholic.
Lin, who already had a very impressive resume, added to his great list of accomplishments last month when he achieved a perfect score on the math portion of the SAT.

“I was surprised with the math score,’’ said Lin, who is from Shenzhen, China. “I thought I could do well, but I wasn’t expecting a perfect score.’’
Lin is a very active student at Union Catholic.
He’s a member of the tennis and swimming teams, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Asian Club, serves as a Student Ambassador, is an International Student Leader, is on the Service Club Executive Board, is an avid violin player, and he’s volunteered as a teacher assistant at a Chinese School.
“A big reason I came here to Union Catholic as a freshman was to get involved in more activities,’’ said Lin. “In China, there isn’t enough time to really develop all the interests you have, but at Union Catholic I’ve been able to get involved in lots of activities. I try to take all the extra time that I have and use it to do as many things as possible. One of the best things about Union Catholic is the community and the school spirit. I love to be in touch with the people in the UC Community through sports and my other activities. I’m so thankful to Union Catholic for giving me so many opportunities academically, athletically, and through extracurricular activities.’’
