SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – On Thursday afternoon, the Union County Bureau of Hazardous Materials Emergency Services (HAZMAT) conducted a follow up investigation at 1815 Front Street after Wednesday’s flooding.

On Wednesday, Front Street experienced severe flooding, as water overflowed into yards and filled basements.

“It was a precautionary measure, because oil and water don’t mix,” the homeowner said after suspecting a heating oil leak. "My basement was full from the runoff and now it's just mud."
