Union County Tournament Seeds for Boys and Girls Basketball Revealed

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ - The boys' and girls' basketball teams at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School each will be playing preliminary round games this weekend in the Union County Tournament, which seeded both brackets on Tuesday.

The Raiders' boys team, with a 9-12 record, is seeded 15th, and will match up a third time with 10th-seeded Cranford, which has already beaten SPF twice this season. The two teams will meet in a preliminary game in Cranford on either Friday or Saturday. The winner of that game will go against the winner of seventh-seeded St. Mary's and 18th-seeded Rahway.

The Raiders' girls team, with a 7-13 record, was given a 13th seed, pitting SPF against 20th-seeded Roselle in a preliminary game in Scotch Plains on either Friday or Saturday.

Junior guard Leo Ramos leads the Raider boys with an average of 13.7 points per game. Senior forward Jack Poillon leads SPF in 3-point baskets with 17.

Sophomore Amani Williams leads a very balanced SPF girls' basketball team with 11.4 points per game. Senior guard Katie Harper averages close to 10 ppg. Forward Thabitha Dwunfour has been the Lady Raiders' most productive performer on the backboards with 11.3 rebounds a game.
