SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Three years ago, SPFHS’s Athletic Director Ryan Miller found himself scrambling for a fill-in PA announcer before a varsity football game. With limited options, Miller turned to sophomore Brett Mayerson and would not regret it.

After his first game, Mayerson asked if he could become “the voice of Raider sports.” He was hooked. Miller, impressed by the unexpected outcome from a student with no experience, decided to give him a chance and tasked him with the girls and boys varsity basketball games.

Taking the responsibility seriously, Mayerson never looked back. He announced every home game and later became the full-time PA announcer for varsity football, basketball, and lacrosse.
