CHERRY HILL, NJ -- The Union Catholic volleyball team, ranked No. 11 in the state, continued its red hot start to the season by winning two matches and putting a scare into No. 1 ranked Immaculate Heart at a tournament on Saturday at Cherry Hill East High School.

After UC defeated both Paul VI of Haddonfield and Cherry Hill East in two sets, the Vikings clashed with Immaculate Heart Academy for the second time this season.

The Vikings got off to a fast start vs. IHA, winning the first set, 25-22. IHA responded by rallying to capture the next two sets, 25-16, 25-18, to win the match.

Union Catholic, now 4-1 on the season, has now won two of its five sets vs. IHA this season. No other team has taken one set from the Bergen County powerhouse this season. 

Several UC players racked up great stats vs. IHA.

In the match vs. IHA, co-captain Chloe John had 19 assists and seven service points. Katelyn Salvador had 15 assists, Alexandra Kwasnik has 10 kills and nine service points, Olivia Szyszkiewicz had eight kills, seven digs, and six service points, and Najlaa Williams came up with 12 digs and five service points.
