EDISON, NJ -- Members of the Middle School Math & Science Club at The Wardlaw + Hartridge School in Edison participated in the NJ Regional Science Bowl at Princeton Physics Plasma Lab.
Students Aarush Dharayan, Shreya Dharayan, Zain Zaidi, Andrew Bao, Kunal Patel, Ametij Sappal, Annie and Victoria Xu of Edison, Shankari Theivanayagam of Summit, and Nicholas Parlavecchio ’24 were accompanied by teachers Andrea Barnett of Morganville and Elizabeth Martin of South Plainfield. The team split four rounds with a 2-2 record.
"Every time we lost a round, we learned new strategies from the team we lost to," Annie explained.
This was the group’s first time competing as a team. The students have been practicing once a week during Middle School club time and recently spent time out of school preparing at home together. Five members composed the final competing team.
"Most questions asked directly related to our science curriculum over the course of the Middle School, which was gratifying to know, " Mrs. Barnett said. "It was extremely competitive and exciting, and we are very proud of their efforts and accomplishments."
The Wardlaw+Hartridge School is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational day school located in Edison serving students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
