EDISON, NJ -- The eighth grade class at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison spent a busy week in Washington D.C. on the annual trip to the nation’s capital. Chaperones Esther Faus, Lee Nicholls, Tanda Tucker, Noreen Jafri and Kirstin Rogers accompanied the students.

After arriving in D.C., the students visited Ford’s Theater and the International Spy Museum on the first day. The jam-packed itinerary also included stops at Mount Vernon, the Capitol Building, Jefferson Memorial, White House grounds, World War II Memorial, Smithsonian and Holocaust museums, and tours of the Senate, House of Representatives and National Air and Space Museum. They also attended a play called Shear Madness at the JFK Theater.

“The Washington D.C. trip was one of the best trips of them all. Our class had lots of fun and really bonded as a group,” Henry Bowman of Scotch Plains said. “We visited several museums and all of the memorials and got to see the government in action when we went to the House of Representatives. My favorite part of the trip was the play Shear Madness. It was impressive how the actors made a new ending to the show based on our feedback.”
