EDISON, NJ -- The Wardlaw-Hartridge School held its 134th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 16 under a giant tent on the back athletic fields.

The Class of 2017 marched in, led by Allison Haley of Colonia and Neha Chhabra of Edison carrying the class flag. The program began with the Star-Spangled Banner and a welcome from Dr. Bob Bowman of Scotch Plains, Assistant Head of School for Upper School.

Jordan Rose of Watchung represented his class with a wonderful speech during which he used water as a metaphor to show how “life is about movement, change and growth” and concluded with the reassurance that “the sea is endless for Rams like us.” Andrew Webster of Edison, Head of School, delivered his Charge to the Class of 2017 and Rob Rizzo of Scotch Plains, Board of Trustees President, provided greetings and best wishes during inspiring remarks about Jackie Robinson.

The 41 graduates received their diplomas after Susan Swenson of Plainfield, Director of College Counseling, announced their names. They shook hands with Mr. Webster and Mr. Rizzo and after all graduates received their diplomas, they tossed their caps in the air with jubilation.

The seniors in the choir joined the alumni in the singing of the school song before the recessional.

Parents, families, friends, faculty and staff joined the graduates for a reception, courtesy of the Parents’ Association, following the ceremony.
