While Scotch Plains-Fanwood public schools continue to be closed, and with the students being on spring break, I want to remind everyone that we need to continue to practice proper social distancing. Like everyone else your children should practice social distancing and be a minimum six feet apart, avoid groups over 10 people, and no short-term contact (e.g., no basketball pickup games).
Although the young “may” be less susceptible to the virus, they can bring it home to older adults in the home. Feel free to go for a walk, ride your bike, sit outside in your yard and do some gardening or grill something for lunch or for dinner. It is recommended that there be no contact outside your family when it comes to socializing. Our towns are only as strong as those who will listen. We are all impacted when residents don't follow the rules. Please also ensure that any personal protective equipment you wear is thrown into a trash receptacle. It is disheartening to see parking lots and streets littered with these items.
As of today, in addition to only going out when necessary, I will be wearing gloves and a mask. I am told by multiple sources that the next two weeks are critical, so let’s do all we can to defeat the virus by following the rules. See you around town with my mask and gloves, still patronizing our local businesses with take out or road side deliveries in a safe manner for all!
We will defeat this virus; let’s all pull together right now to make a difference.
