SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The  old 1970s Chiffon Margarine commercials said, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature," but she has sure played a nasty trick on the first official day of spring.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Friday, March 20 in effect until 8 p.m. Snow is accumulations are possible with the potential for 2 to 5 inches.

A heavy wet snow is expected to continue through much of the day and then mix with sleet and rain during the late afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the middle 30s in the afternoon. Be prepared for slippery roads.

Expect a turnaround on Saturday with partly sunny skies and temperatures near 45 degrees in the afternoon.
