FANWOOD, NJ -- With fall temperatures in the air, now is the time that Paul Watterson of the Fanwood Grille likes to show off his soup-making talents. He has introduced some old and new favorites, including New Orleans chicken gumbo, classic pasta fagioli, creamy butternut squash soup, and Grandma's Spanish chicken soup.
"My boys always looked forward to visiting grandma and having some of her chicken soup, which has a zesty flavor and a variety of chunky vegetables," said Watterson. "The New Orleans chicken gumbo is a new creation. It's become very popular in a short period of time. We got a call a few minutes after delivering it this week from a customer who told us it's better than the gumbo in New Orleans. It's delicious."
Diners at the Fanwood Grille can order soup to stay or have it delivered by ordering online or calling (908) 322-9500. For those who would like to make one of the soups as a dinner item, it is available in a new frozen case to go.
"Summer has lasted longer than usual, but with a little chill in the air, soup sales are on the way up," Watterson added.
The Fanwood Grille is located at 34 South Martine Ave. in Fanwood.
