SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- World Refugee Day is designated at June 20 by the United Nations.  

In an effort to bring awareness to the plight of the refugee, St. Bartholomew will host a Candlelight Service in partnership with the new Refugee Ministry. Bishop Manuel A. Cruz of the Archdiocese of Newark, a Cuban refugee himself, will  lead the service in prayer and word and end with a gathering around the flagpole with candles lit in solidarity.

This event is open to the community and all faiths and will begin in the church at 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments provided immediately following the service. is Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s only free daily paper.
