SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Raider wrestlers hung tough against perennial powerhouse Rahway on Friday night in a match that Rahway eventually won, 39-27, at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

Among the highlights for the Raiders: Jack Manville and Larry Shoyoye each pinned their opponents in the first period, Brandon Bowles took his opponent into overtime, and in one of the hardest fought battles of the night, Joey Larmore showed why he is one of the toughest wrestlers in his weight class.

Despite the team's loss, Scotch Plains-Fanwood Coach Marc Fabiano saw a lot of positives in his athletes' performances.

"It was a tough match, and we wrestled our butts off," Fabiano said after the match. This should not have been close. Kyle Robinson won a decision over a kid who pinned him the last time they met, and Jack Manville pinned a tough opponent."

"We continue to work on toughness, and it's showing on the mats. It will get us better," the coach added.
